Police reforms

Are you a criminal? If not, why are you scared of stepping inside a police station to report a wrong? Why should neighbours look suspiciously if a policeman pays you a visit even if it is just for address verification for passport? The common man never had faith in the institution of police which was created by the British to help them rule over their slaves and which continues to be guided by the Police Act of 1861. The police is nothing but a hangover of the colonial mindset that continues to terrorise the innocent.

Internal security and law and order are a core government function. Therefore, we do not have an option but to fix it. Criminal must be caught and the innocent must be protected. The British Raj police has to give way to a whole new citizen-serving institution, equipped with the right tools, training and incentives.
